Montana Food Bank Network (@mtfoodbanknetwork) created an advocacy toolkit 101 to help anyone who wants to engage with the session. “This toolkit provides background on the current status of hunger in our state, the Montana State Legislature, and the legislative process. The toolkit outlines advocacy strategies and offers ideas on how to adapt advocacy tactics to your organization’s priorities. You will also find guidance on the differences between advocacy and lobbying, including lobbying limitations for non-profit organizations, or individuals affiliated with state and federal agencies.” Whether you’re an individual interested in food system issues or working on behalf of an organization, this toolkit can help you make the most of the 67th legislative session!
Since 2005, Grow Montana has advocated for changes in state policies that would strengthen Montana’s food and agriculture economies. The coalition has since led projects on food systems research, producing education materials, and stewarded policy change to support Montana’s food producers.
